1) Do you have a social media plan?
Just like any other business project, its important to have a social media strategy in place and it should be strategically sound and well planned out. Consistency is key.
2) What are your competitors doing?
Look at what works for them and what doesn’t. Once you have done your research, use this to your advantage and follow suit. Of course, I’m by no means saying plagiarizing, but it’s important to be aware of the latest trends in your field.
As the old saying goes ‘keep your friends close, but your enemies closer’.
3) Get to know who you are targeting.
Who are you speaking to? Who is your target audience? What do they want to know? Tailor your content to suit your audience.
4) Test and find out what works.
You should be constantly looking to improve and fine tune your strategy. Use analytics to see what works and what doesn’t. Listen to what your audience is telling you.
5) Engage with your audience.
Responding to your audience allows you to humanize your brand, people like people, this in turn leads to a loyal following. If you don’t engage with your audience, it will put people off and eventually you will lose them.
Social media offers a great way of networking and connecting with others, so use it to your advantage.
